A turkey (or large bird of an unconfirmed species) was spotted in West Seattle last week. And it appears he’s hopped on down to Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood.

Amanda Allen said she spotted this potential Thanksgiving dinner walking down the sidewalk on Ohio Ave. South and East Marginal Way on Monday evening while she was waiting for the bus.

“I suddenly heard a clicking sound which turned out to be a turkey running across East Marginal, dodging several dump trucks,” Allen said. “I followed it for a few moments until it disappeared under a car in the parking lot for Federal Center South.”

Seattle Animal Control’s Don Baxter told the that a turkey was spotted around the Spokane Street and West Seattle Bridge area.

Baxter said wild turkeys sightings are rare in Seattle.

鈥淚t鈥檚 not normal,鈥 he said. 鈥淚f a turkey is loose, it鈥檚 usually like one of those domesticated ones. Like a backyard, barnyard pet. Not wild turkeys.鈥

Baxter said officials have not made contact with the elusive bird yet.

Beware, Mr. Tom, Plymouth Poultry is located just a few blocks away at 7th Ave. S.
