One franchisee, Rashid Mohamed, plans to open a store this summer in Dubai, where he has family and other business interests.
Some people think Ezell’s Chicken is the best in the world. Now, the Seattle-based restaurant chain will get a chance to prove it.
The owners of the fast food chicken joint started with a store in the Central District, at 23rd Avenue East and East Jefferson, almost 30 years ago and own seven stores in the Seattle, Tacoma area.
Now, Lewis Rudd and Dennis Waldron are selling franchises for between $400,000 and $600,000. One franchisee, Rashid Mohamed, plans to open a store this summer in Dubai, where he has family and other business interests.
The former University of Washington student tells the Ezell’s will compete with Popeye’s, Church’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Two other Ezell’s franchises are due to open soon in Seattle’s Rainier Valley and Mill Creek.
Rudd says he’s always wanted to grow the company worldwide and have an Ezell’s anywhere there’s a McDonalds.
