Fans are launching a campaign to get T-Mobile Park to turn around the Dave Niehaus monument so the iconic broadcaster’s likeness can “watch” the Mariners’ first home playoff game in a generation.

The is gaining social media attention and signatures fast; it has grown to more than 2,300 signers in the two days since its inception. Its creator, Shay Weintraub, is a lifelong fan and author at the Mariners fan site .

Even with thrilling ’22, nothing will ever top the excitement of the ’95 Mariners

She said she got the idea from a comment on one of the site’s articles and it seemed like a fun way to celebrate the Mariners’ first playoff since 2001.

“This team is the textbook definition of fun, so the fans should definitely be having some fun, too,” she told Xվ Newsradio.

Weintraub said she knows the metallic statue outside center field is probably very difficult to move. Even so, she says the petition is a symbolic gesture of her and many others’ excitement.

“If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen, but it’s the playoffs,” she said. “Let’s have some fun, let’s do things to celebrate.”
