Former police chief lands gig in Seattle TV news

Former Seattle police chief Carmen Best has a new job.
Carmen Best will be a law enforcement analyst at KING 5, the . Expect to see Best both on television and on digital platforms.
Best retired from the Seattle Police Department on Sept. 2 after a summer marked by protests and riots in the city.
鈥淚 can honestly say I have no regrets,鈥� Best said during a news conference shortly after word got out that Best was leaving the department. “I will always love being a SPD officer. To the men and women of the SPD, you will always have my respect. You will always be in my heart. You are without a doubt the best police department in the country.鈥�
Best’s retirement followed an historic vote from the Seattle City Council, enacting sweeping cuts to the city鈥檚 police department budget.
鈥淢y heart is heavy to lose her, and I will freely admit, I wish she was staying,鈥� Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan said in the same news conference.
