Snohomish County Corrections deputies made an unexpected discovery while booking a 30-year-old woman into jail on Wednesday.

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies found a loaded semi-automatic handgun hidden between the folds of the woman鈥檚 belly.

They say they made the discovery when the woman was placed in a body-scanning machine used to identify and reduce contraband entering the jail.

The woman was immediately handcuffed and booked into jail on an added charge of possession of a weapon by a prisoner, a class C felony.

Deputies say the gun was a Colt .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun.
