King County Council to decide on pot-grow operation in Redmond Ridge

The King County Council is expected to decide Monday afternoon whether a marijuana production plant can be opened in a business park in Redmond Ridge.
Residents believe the facility doesn’t fit their community and say it’s also illegal.
Ritu Gupta says it’s too close to a local play field, “The county found that the distance between the proposed facility and the baseball park is at 995 feet – not 1,000 (feet.) That does meet the Washington state legal requirements.”
The state’s new regulations mandate that any pot production facility must be over 1,000 feet away from any school or park where children gather.
Hundreds of Redmond Ridge residents registered their displeasure with the proposal at the last King County Council meeting.
