Investigators say man at Gorge Amphitheater was not planning a mass shooting

Grant County Sheriff’s Office investigators now believe the man arrested with two pistols at the Gorge Amphitheater did not intend to cause a mass shooting.
31-year-old Johnathan Moody of Ephrata was arraigned on weapons charges yesterday, and pleaded not guilty to charges of posession of a dangerous weapon and unlawful carrying of a handgun.
His bail was set at $10,000.

Deputies with the Grant County Sheriff鈥檚 Office believe a potential mass shooting was avoided at the Gorge Amphitheater this past weekend.
At around 9 p.m. on Friday, deputies were notified by citizens and security of a man in the parking lot, inhaling something from a balloon and loading two 9mm pistols from his car.

The Gorge Amphitheater was hosting 鈥淏ass Canyon,鈥� an electronic dance music festival with nearly 25,000 people attending.

Deputies say the man asked concertgoers what time it was ending and where people were going to be exiting.
He was detained by security outside the venue, where he was disarmed — then arrested by the sheriff’s office.
No one was hurt.
