Mercer Island residents affected by water main breaks

Mercer Island has been dealing with two water main breaks.
Crews are currently working on a break near the 7700 block of East Mercer Way. Water service may be disrupted for about five nearby homes as the city works to repair the leak.
Mercer Island crews repair first water main break
At 8:16 a.m. Wednesday, crews finished repairing a separate water main break near the 8300 block of East Mercer Way that impacted about 50 homes.
Water service was expected to be restored by 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the . However, East Mercer Way remains closed between Southeast 76th Street and the north end of Clarke Beach Park until it can be inspected, the city stated.
Officials noted there may be discoloration in the water, which will improve as the system flushes.
“Residents can contact customer service if the issue persists,” the city wrote on X.
