The mother and grandparents of a 9-year-old Tacoma boy are jailed after the boy was found bruised, malnourished, and suffering a broken collar bone.
Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives went to a home Thursday on a referral from child protective services and removed the boy, who weighed just 45 pounds.
The sheriff says the boy complained that family members beat him with spatulas, hangers, and a piece of wood. A medical exam revealed a broken clavicle. The boy said he saw a bone sticking out of his neck after his grandfather tossed him off of a porch for stealing food.
The child told caseworkers he didn’t go to school because he once had told somebody that he was beat at home.
The three family members, Maria Isler, 31, Rosa Isler, 58 and Robert Isler, 60 have pleaded not guilty to second degree child assault.
