Murder charge for high speed chase, crash

Jun 3, 2013, 4:16 PM | Updated: 5:15 pm

A second degree murder charge is filed against a driver, suspected of speeding away from Auburn police and crashing, killing his passenger.

Police claim Brian Sicade hit speeds up to 115 miles per hour in a stolen car last February 4 before crashing on I-5 in Tacoma.

“The defendant stupidly turned a misdemeanor into murder when he chose to speed away from the police and eventually, predictably crashed,” said Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist.

Sicade, 22, was driving a stolen car and had a suspended license, according to police. The chase began on Highway 18 and progressed to I-5, “sometimes at speed over 100 miles per hour,” said Lindquist. He said Sicade was drunk, driving recklessly, crossing all lanes of the freeway before crashing into a cable barrier and guardrail.

Sicade pleaded not guilty Monday in Pierce County Superior Court to multiple charges, including second degree murder, vehicular homicide, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude a police vehicle and driving with a suspended license in the 3rd degree. He’s held on bail of $750,000.
