A five-year-old Husky named Nimbus is receiving聽聽at the Washington State Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Pullman after falling about 20 feet off a cliff, following a run-in with a goat.

Now, her owner is sharing her story, in hopes it resonates with others who spend time outdoors with their pets.

The fall happened Saturday, while they were on a training run with friends in Teanaway.

鈥淲e had just reached the ridge,鈥� Katie Warren told . 鈥淭here鈥檚 a big snow patch, which she loves.鈥�

Katie said Nimbus and another dog named Doug began playing in the snow together.

鈥淭hey are together all the time at our races and everything. We call them 鈥楧imbus鈥� as a couple, cause it鈥檚 Doug and Nimbus.鈥�

As the group continued their run, something changed.

鈥淚 realized she wasn鈥檛 with Doug,鈥� Katie told 成人X站 7.

She checked her GPS collar and saw her a short distance away, near a big rock outcrop.

鈥淚f I see her alert to something, whether it鈥檚 a noise or a scent or something, she immediately goes back on a leash,鈥� Katie said.

Nimbus had followed a goat into steep terrain.

鈥淎 bunch of rocks started falling,鈥� Katie said. 鈥淚t caught my attention. I looked up and she was just falling like through the air, backwards. And I didn鈥檛 even really register like the goat.鈥�

Katie was in shock.

鈥淢y first thought was like; I just watched my dog die. And I screamed.鈥�

Rocks were still falling as Katie made her way over to Nimbus, unsure what she鈥檇 find.

鈥淪he was sitting there at the top of the snow bank, and I鈥檓 like shaking and sobbing,鈥� Katie told 成人X站 7. 鈥淒id a little once over, and she stood up, which I was shocked.鈥�

At this point, Katie鈥檚 friends came looking for her. Her partner, who is a firefighter, examined Nimbus for any signs of injury.

鈥淣o point tenderness, she didn鈥檛 like yelp or whine. So, we didn鈥檛 think there was any bone damage,鈥� Katie said. 鈥淚t wasn鈥檛 until I got her up on like my partner鈥檚 shoulders so he could start carrying her out that I realized she had a wound on her side.鈥�

The group took turns carrying Nimbus the five miles to the parking lot.

They rushed her to a Cascade Veterinary Clinic in Wenatchee.

鈥淭hey were amazing,鈥� Katie told 成人X站 7.

With Nimbus stable and in the care of a veterinarian staff, she and her partner made the trek back to get her car.

鈥淏y the time I got down right back into the service and my phone started ringing, that鈥檚 when she told me how bad Nimbus鈥� internal damage was, and that I had some hard decisions to make,鈥� Katie said.

But it wasn鈥檛 a hard decision 鈥� it was a no-brainer for Katie.

鈥淚鈥檓 going to do everything I can to save her.鈥�

Nimbus made it through the night, but the next day her protein levels began to drop. Katie said that Nimbus had sepsis and a damaged pancreas. She needed a higher level of care.

鈥淲e鈥檙e really lucky in Washington,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 was just three and a half hours away from WSU.鈥�

She got in her car and drove Nimbus straight to Pullman, where she鈥檚 currently receiving treatment.

Katie told 成人X站 7 News that on Tuesday, she got a glimmer of hope. Nimbus ate a little bit of chicken, and her lab work is staying consistent.

鈥淚 just keep telling her that she鈥檚 such a tough girl,鈥� Katie said. 鈥淪he鈥檚 so spunky and has such a little attitude sometimes, and she is so stubborn and so I just, all those traits that can be so frustrating sometimes, I鈥檓 like lean into those girl, those are going to get you through.鈥�

Katie said that she wants to be clear 鈥� she is not blaming the goat for what happened to Nimbus.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 want this to be like, 鈥極h, this vicious goat attacked her,鈥欌�� Katie said. 鈥淚t was her fault. It was my fault. And, um. you know, I鈥檓 going to carry that with me for a long time.鈥�

She hopes that her story will serve as a reminder to treat wildlife with kindness.

鈥淎ll wildlife should be respected,鈥� she said.鈥� They鈥檙e not out to get you, but they鈥檙e wild animals, and you鈥檝e got to respect their space鈥�Don鈥檛 blame them for being in their environment, and them just doing what they do.鈥�

Katie also urges all pet owners to consider pet insurance.

鈥淛ust like with people, insurance only covers so much, but it is the difference between saving your animal and not.鈥�

She also suggests having a group with you when spending time outdoors and bringing the proper gear.

鈥淚t was so helpful to have people with me,鈥� she said. 鈥淎nd thinking about things that I carry under other circumstances. Like if I鈥檓 backpacking, I have a little sling that鈥檚 made specifically for evacuating your dog. But I just, you know, this was such a mundane, normal trail run for us that I just didn鈥檛 see it as necessary.鈥�

Katie said she鈥檚 unsure how long Nimbus will be in 24-hour veterinary care, but she is grateful for those who are caring for her best friend.

鈥淭heir attitude and just their positive spirit and their support of me and my dog is just, I just can鈥檛 thank them enough.鈥�

鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing you can say to me that I haven鈥檛 said to myself,鈥� she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 beating myself up just as bad, because it鈥檚 my dog in there. It鈥檚 my best bud. I understand that I made a mistake, and I don鈥檛 think that it鈥檚 okay. Give me your best.鈥�
