Washington State Patrol blocked three lanes of northbound I-5, just north of Michigan St., late Wednesday morning.

Troopers pursued a suspected impaired driver from Federal Way, according to a spokesperson for WSP.

“Shortly after 10 a.m., at a rest area near Federal Way, we noticed a female individual who was showing obvious signs of impairment behind the wheel,” WSP Public Information Officer Rick Johnson told MyNorthwest. “She did not comply with commands and took off, even hitting one of our vehicles in the process.”

After getting through WSP’s first attempt to spike her car, the vehicle eventually spun out near Michigan Street, where she was arrested. No one was injured during the high-speed chase and ensuing arrest.

It is believed narcotics were onboard the vehicle, according to Johnson.

Update, 12:15 p.m.:

All lanes of northbound I-5 have reopened, according to State Patrol.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
