Police investigate arsons at two Olympia schools

Jan 6, 2014, 7:23 AM | Updated: 7:34 am

Police in Olympia are investigating two attempted arsons after fires were set at two schools.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Greg Wright, “The first one, Pioneer Elementary, was started outside (with) probably an old hay bail. The fire burned in the hay and then burned through the wall just enough to start putting smoke inside the building.

The smoke activated the fire alarm and notified the fire department.

While crews were still at the first fire Saturday, they got a call about a second fire at the private Nova School, about a mile away. Both fires were set either late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Wright says total damage at both schools is about $15,000. No one was hurt and so far there are no suspects.
