Portland State professor placed on leave after saying ‘We are all Hamas’ in viral video

A professor at Portland State University was placed on leave after making controversial comments in a video at an off-campus event.
“I am Hamas. We are all Hamas,” the professor was recorded saying, according to .
Portland State University President Ann Cudd called the comments “absolutely unacceptable,” clarifying that the university stands firmly against antisemitism, terrorism, and hate of any kind.
“Our university community has been working hard to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all, including our Jewish students, faculty, and staff,” Cudd wrote.
The school is now investigating the comments in the video while the professor is on leave.

Last year,聽pro-Palestinian protestors took over Portland State University’s library, with their occupation lasting a few days. Once the takeover ended, police conducted a sweep of the building and found homemade weapons.
The Portland Police Department arrested 30 people.
“We recognize that events like this one indicate the need for additional education, and this term we offered a free, one-credit class on antisemitism that was well received by the more than 100 students who are taking it,” Cudd added. “We intend to make this course available to more members of our community. We are committed to providing a campus environment free from hate.”
