Property tax statement missing key information

The Pierce County property tax statements that went out in the mail last week include an embarrassing mistake. But the mistake has nothing to do with the tax calculation.
The problem is with the return envelope provided. It has a plastic window to display the return address but when you insert your payment stub, the window is blank. No address is visible.
Assessor-Treasurer Mike Lonergan apologizes for the confusion, blaming a printing error by a vendor. He asks that property tax holders write in the return address above the window:
PO Box 11621
Tacoma, WA 98411-6621
But even if you don’t take that extra step, the envelopes have a bar code that will direct the statements to the proper address.
Questions can be directed to the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer’s customer service phone line at 253-798-6111.
The annual tax statements with the printing error on the payment stub went out to 184,000 residential and business property owners. The first-half payment of property taxes is due by April 30.
