Proponents of lid over I-5 in Seattle getting serious

The people trying to put a lid over a portion of I-5 in Seattle just showed how serious they are with their donation efforts.
The reports developer Mike Malone will match “your single $10,000 donation” to the campaign.

The group’s current goal for 2016 is to raise $30,000 to pay for a full-time project manager, outreach materials, and design workshops. The Capitol Hill Blog reports the group has raised $22,000 so far. The money has been used to hold meetings and hire a strategy consultant.
Placing a lid on I-5 is an effort to “stitch” Seattle back together. The argues that I-5 cut the city in two; separating the central business district and neighborhoods.
Some possibilities for a lid over I-5 have included the stretch of freeway between Madison and Denny Way and 45th and 55th Streets.
