It’s worth remembering that today is the 72nd anniversary of — the effective end of World War II on Aug. 14, 1945.

To mark the occasion, I went to the endangered memorial wall at Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center this morning and, with help from an old friend, read aloud the nearly 800 names of Seattle Public Schools alums who died in that conflict.

We shared the reading via Facebook Live; due to technical difficulties, the initial stream dropped out a few minutes in, so the nearly complete list is visible and audible via video in two parts.
