A handful of schools announced closures Monday due to concerns over coronavirus.

Mariner High School is closed Monday after the parent of a student was diagnosed with coronavirus. The parent’s child is not showing any symptoms, but will be quarantined at home and monitored for 14 days, as per the direction of the Snohomish Health District.

Because the student was in contact with Discovery Elementary, that school will be closed Monday as well.

Hazen High School in Renton is closed Monday as crews disinfect the campus, after school officials learned that a student and their parent are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Two more cases of coronavirus identified in King County

The student and parent are at home in self-quarantine while they’re waiting coronavirus test results.

The student became sick Wednesday afternoon and did not attend school for two days. The parent works in the healthcare industry and became sick last Sunday.

Crews are disinfecting the school and providing disinfecting wipes to each classroom.

Additionally, Jackson High School in Everett is closed on Monday after health officials reported on Friday that a student at the school is at home with coronavirus.

Also announcing closures on Monday were Kentwood High School, Covington Elementary School, Kingston High School and Frank Love Elementary. A student at Frank Love is currently being tested for the virus. On Tuesday, all Northshore School District schools will close so they can be disinfected.
