Richard Sherman signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers, although he says other teams — including the Seahawks — expressed interest, despite challenges over the summer.

“Obviously, mentally, I had my moments,” Sherman said in the video.

Sherman did not specifically mention the five misdemeanors he was charged with in King County, after one night in July when his wife called 911, telling dispatchers, “I need officers to my house now. My husband is drunk and belligerent and threatening to kill himself.”

That night, Sherman allegedly drove drunk, crashed his car, tried to break into his father-in-law’s home in Redmond, and resisted arrest.

Sherman pleaded not guilty and expressed remorse, posting to Twitter: “The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I vow to get the help I need.”

In his video posted Wednesday, Sherman said he has been “talking to counselors and getting some help. Getting on some medication that I needed. You know, that’s helped tremendously as well.”

He said support from his family has also been key.

“Having a supportive family, a supportive wife, … it took a lot. It took a village,” he said.

Sherman has no criminal record and was released from jail without bail. He has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for Friday, according to the .
