The charitable arm of the Seattle Mariners has announced $65,000 dollars in awards to three separate groups, in its bid to further the cause of racial equity.

The team will be distributing $20,000 to Seattle-based You Grow Girl!, which provides “mental and behavioral health services to female-identifying youth and families from BIPOC communities.”

Another $20,000 will be given to the King County Play Equity Coalition, addressing “lack of access and resources for all youth” through a collaboration with 100 participating organizations.

The money will be coming out of the team’s , created last July with the goal of distributing $1 million in community investments toward social justice and racial equity.

“By investing strategically to support partners working toward systemic change, particularly in BIPOC communities, we believe we can have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of our youth and help grow economic equity, particularly in under-resourced communities,鈥 Mariners Executive Vice President Fred Rivera said in a written release.

Another round of grants will be awarded in July.
