Snohomish County health experts are feeling hopeful as a fourth wave of cases and hospitalizations appears to have leveled off.

Two cases of toxin-producing E. coli in Snohomish County

“Our case rate is stable at 227 cases per 100,000 residents,” Snohomish County Health Officer Dr. Chris Spitters said .

The county’s case and hospitalization rates are both roughly on par with what it saw toward the end of April, indicating that neither are growing substantially anymore.

About 60% of eligible county residents have gotten one dose of the vaccine, and roughly 43% of those eligible are fully vaccinated.

“All the hard work and sacrifices everybody has been making have been worth it,鈥 County Executive Dave Somers said Tuesday.

The leveling off in Snohomish County is consistent with trends seen across the Puget Sound region.

After about six weeks of increasing counts, the number of new COVID-19 cases in King County decreased slightly by 5%, according to Health Officer Dr. Jeff Duchin. At the end of last week, the 14-day incidence rate was approximately 250 cases per 100,000 residents, which was similar to rate the week before but almost double that of the end of the fall and winter surge in early March.
