Teen stabbed with syringe when trying on Christmas gift

Dec 30, 2013, 9:16 AM | Updated: 10:01 am

A Cowlitz County teen has to undergo blood tests after being stuck by a syringe that jabbed him while trying on a brand new sweatshirt he got for Christmas.

The 16-year old Toutle boy was sliding his hands into the pockets of the sweatshirt his mom bought at the Longview Walmart.

The teen’s step-dad Tom Basye told KING-5 he was horrified.

“You do not expect, on Christmas morning, to be opening presents and find dirty used needles in your Christmas presents,” said Basye.

The family reported the find to police and the store.

He’ll be undergoing blood tests for the next six months to make sure he is not infected with any illness.

Walmart says it’s looking into the claim.
