A federal judge in Seattle has sentenced a one-time family law attorney in Kent to 25 years in prison on child pornography convictions.
The name of David Engle came up as a customer while detectives investigated an international movie company that produced child porn, according to court documents. Between 2005 and 2011, Engle purchased more than 180 items from a website associated with the movie production company.
Law enforcement later confiscated hundreds of videos from Engle’s Maple Valley home and a storage locker showing Engle molesting a boy. He faces a separate state prosecution on child molestation charges involving that boy and another minor. Examination of computer equipment revealed that Engle, 50, was in possession of tens of thousands more images of child porn as well as thousands of child porn videos. Engle was arrested in November 2012, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle.
Engle was convicted in U.S. District Court of Production of Child Pornography/Sexual Exploitation of Children, one count of Receipt of Material Constituting or Containing Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
Engle also volunteered in youth baseball and in a sentencing document, federal prosecutors called his criminal conduct “especially monstrous.”
