Oreos are old. So old that their grandchildren might post funny videos of them on YouTube. So old that people in the grocery store don’t judge them for using an electric scooter.
They’re so old, Willard Scott could read their name and wish them a happy birthday from Smuckers on the Today Show.
That’s right, Oreos are 100-years-old today.
Despite being delicious if you eat the center first, lick it and put it back together, dunk it in milk, or do some sort of combination of the Oreo-eating traditions, they also gained fame by being an ingredient in some of America’s favorite desserts.
… Like cookies n’ cream ice cream or milkshakes.

For the baker in your family Oreos are also a crucial ingredient in some tasty desserts. Just for fun, here are a few recipes from BettyCrocker.com that we thought perfectly celebrate the centenarian.
If you’re a cake fan, the looks delicious. All you will need is …
1 package Betty Crocker white angel food cake mix
1 1/4 cups cold water
3 reduced-fat Oreo cookies, finely crushed
1 package Betty Crocker fluffy white frosting mix
1/2 cup boiling water
6 reduced-fat chocolate sandwich cookies, cut in half
… and three hours and two minutes of your time.
But you are busy! You love Oreos, but you don’t have that sort of time on your hands.
For you, stick to the no-bake recipes. Check your cupboard for the ingredients to
24 Oreos
4 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
