Starbucks finally got it right

Starbucks...

“Why did this take so long?” KTTH’s Jason Rantz asked me on the walk back from Starbucks.

We casually sipped our Blonde Espresso and pondered that for a moment. There’s no good answer.

The Post reports it’s the first time in more than 40 years that Starbucks has used anything other than a dark blend for espresso.

The Washington Post recently summed it up well: “Congratulations, Starbucks, you鈥檙e only about a decade or two behind the curve.”

Starbucks is famous for hyping experimental drinks from the Unicorn Frappuccino to the Pumpkin Spice Latte, which did so well that it comes back every year. Now there are even variations of that with Smoked Butterscotch and Maple Pecan Lattes.

Turns out it also works to lay off the sugary syrup and avoid burning the beans.

We heard the company made the move to Blonde to appeal to Millennials, who don’t enjoy bitter coffee. There may be some truth to that. According to Starbucks, “Blonde is a great option for customers who are new to coffee, or who are looking for a smoother coffee flavor that needs less cream and sugar added.”

New to coffee? We don’t understand. Either way, bottoms up.
