Stephen Colbert on Woodland Park Zoo and its political influence

Jun 26, 2012, 1:59 PM | Updated: 3:30 pm

Stephen Colbert uses his segment “The Word” to help point out ironies in news stories, their subjects, and the people who cover them on his show “The Colbert Report.”

On Monday’s episode, Colbert took a look at Republicans asking states that are seeing positive growth results in the economic recovery to be quiet about their good news – at least until the election is over.

Colbert instead suggested that if the Romney campaign wanted to use bad news, like a continued slow economic recovery, that maybe they should just switch to sad or bad news, generally.

That’s when Colbert brought up this sad story from the Woodland Park Zoo.

The staff at MyNorthwest is fond of each and every animal at Woodland Park Zoo and hopes that they are not used as anyone’s political pawns.
