Toilet paper calculator lets you know how long your supply will last

Mar 25, 2020, 5:20 AM | Updated: 10:04 am

There’s a new tool trending online that will let you know if your current supply of toilet paper will last you through a 14-day quarantine.

How to get groceries without leaving your home

The simple calculator at determines if you’ll be able to make it through quarantine by inputting the number of rolls you have and how many times you use the bathroom in a day. Under “Advanced Options,” you can adjust the number of people in your household, increase the sheets per roll if you’re an extra-large roll kind of buyer, and specify how many sheets you use per trip.

You can even adjust the length of your quarantine if you want to know if you’ll make it past the two weeks of the current stay-at-home order in Washington state.

The calculator was created by London based student software developer Ben Sassoon and artist Sam Harris. According to the website, the TP calculator has been used by more than 5 million people, and states that “the average user has 500% more toilet paper than they need for quarantine.”

In recent weeks, customers have been buying out toilet paper, cleaning wipes, and hand sanitizer, among other products and non-perishable foods, at grocery stores and Costco locations everywhere.

UW food planning expert recommends more than rice, beans, and toilet paper

Gov. Inslee has requested that all Washingtonians stop the panic buying and emptying of shelves. Take only what you need and there should be enough toilet paper and other essentials left over for your neighbors.
