You’ve probably heard the phrase “attractive nuisance.”

If you are a homeowner and you have a trampoline in the backyard, neighborhood kids might be attracted to that trampoline, so you have to do everything you can to keep them out. Usually, the solution would be to build a fence.

The United States has become an attractive nuisance. People from other countries want to come here.

The photo that everybody has seen of the father and his little girl lying dead in the Rio Grande River is heartbreaking. To see the photo, click here (warning: graphic content). I’ve heard some people say, “He shouldn’t have been sneaking into the country illegally in the first place.” I don’t know what his motivations were, but he might have wanted a better life for his family. He might have been fleeing a dangerous situation. It’s not his fault.

Sanctuary policies to blame for assault of White Center rape survivor

Who is to blame for this? Not the dad — we don’t know his circumstances. Is it the politicians? Absolutely. They refused to build the wall that could prevent people from coming into the country illegally. People would know not to do something so dangerous if we had a wall.

This photo is an example of how the media and our politicians are more despicable today than they have ever been. I don’t fault the father for trying to get into the country. He’s been taught likely his entire life that we don’t enforce our border. We’ve got to provide a disincentive so people won’t try to sneak into this country illegally. And then you won’t have these tragedies at the border.

Media bias with dad and daughter photo

The photo of the dad and daughter is a really interesting media study. It’s on the front page of the New York Times. It’s been on CNN and MSNBC virtually nonstop for the last 24 hours. It is a dramatic departure from news organizations’ traditional policy of not showing dead bodies. They have likely altered this policy because they think this photo of the dad and daughter will hurt the president.

It makes me wonder if they would give the same attention to other tragedies.

ICE of the illegal immigrants who have committed horrific crimes in the Pacific Northwest after being released from jail. They had been caught and locked up already. They could have been deported after serving their sentences. But instead they were released back onto the streets without notification to ICE.

After being released from jail here in Washington, Rosalio Ramos-Ramos allegedly beheaded his cousin. That’s a murder that could have been prevented if he were not in the country. Christian Octavio Parra killed his wife after being released from a county jail. For victims, it doesn’t matter if the killer is an illegal immigrant or a citizen — it’s tragic to lose a loved one, period. But, if the killer is an illegal immigrant, almost every one of those deaths would have been preventable if we just enforced our laws.

Hey New York Times, CNN, put photos of those dead bodies on the front page and on TV around the clock. You have violated your policy to not show dead bodies with the photo of the dad and daughter. If you claim to have any measure of objectivity, why wouldn’t you give those photos equal play?
