King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested a 29-year-old man in Shoreline Wednesday on murder charges for allegedly killing his mother. He was arraigned at 2:30 Thursday.
KCSO went to a condo in the area for a welfare check. Welfare checks are made when concerned citizens fear for the safety of a loved one or neighbor whom they fear may be in mortal danger.
Officers forced entry into the residence and found the decapitated body of what appeared to be the suspect’s mother in an upstairs bedroom. A baseball bat was seen lying on the bed adjacent to where the body was found. Authorities also found evidence that the victim was tortured.
The mother had a restraining order on her son, but ended up letting him live with her.
A concerned neighbor heard screaming coming from the residence at approximately 2:00 a.m. June 29, followed by a series of loud 鈥渢humping鈥 sounds emanating from the residence. The neighbor was aware of the ongoing problems between the mother and her son, and was also aware of a no-contact court order that was issued against the suspect.
“Now we don’t know, and we’ll never know the mother’s reasoning for letting the son in,” Dori Monson said on the Dori Monson Show. “But when we have a state where our mental health system is so broken, so much of the mental illness is caused by drugs. We got Supreme Court, we got prosecutors, we got all kinds of people who have legalized drugs, every drug, meth, and heroin. I mean drugs that ruin the brain, that bring on mental illnesses.
“And all of them said the same thing. Well, what we were doing wasn’t working. The war on drugs wasn’t working,” Dori continued. “That era was a utopian paradise, compared to the dystopian hell that exists in this region. When you look at what this region is now, compared to what it was back in the “not working days,” it just shows the absolute failure of people in leadership here.”
A judge ordered the suspect to be held on a $2 million bail.
