Trump Hotels eyeing Seattle as part of expansion

Jan 25, 2017, 10:44 AM

President Donald Trump’s hotel-management company has Trump Hotels in five major metropolitan areas in the country, but the CEO says there’s no reason why “we couldn’t be in all of them eventually.”

And Seattle is on the short list.

More: What are they building?

Trump Hotels CEO Eric Danziger says the company is currently considering opening hotels in Dallas, Denver, Seattle, and San Francisco, .

The announcement follows ethical concerns brought up by top Democrats and advisers, who see a conflict of interest now that Trump is president.

Trump handed control of his real estate development, property management and licensing company to his two adult sons. To ease the appearance of conflicts of interest, the company said it would not enter into any additional international deals, and promised to hire a compliance officer and ethics adviser to vet domestic deals, donate foreign profit from its hotels and refrain from doing anything that could be perceived as exploiting the office of the presidency, the Associated Press reports.

CBS News found at least 10 countries, including Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, where Trump鈥檚 company has business interests. CBS reports the president’s status already appears to be mixing government and business.

鈥淭he Trump Organization has directed that no communications of the organization, including social media accounts, will reference or otherwise be tied to President-elect Trump鈥檚 role as president of the United States or the office of the presidency,鈥 a company attorney wrote in a briefing released earlier this month.
