Major traffic alert: Hood Canal Bridge closed until further notice, adding 3-hour delay

The Hood Canal Bridge on State Route 104 in Poulsbo is closed until further notice, reported the (WSDOT) Monday.
WSDOT stated the closure is due to mechanical issues, and at this time, there is no estimated time for reopening.
“During a routine closure for a marine vessel at 1:02 p.m. on Monday, May 5, the bridge experienced a mechanical malfunction,” the agency wrote. “Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews are working to identify the cause of the malfunction.”
The closure adds three hours to normal travel time, reported WSDOT. The alternative route is through Shelton via State Route 3 and US 101.
WSDOT said it is “making every effort” to reopen to bridge to drivers as soon as possible.
