(APD) is searching for suspects who targeted a man and fatally shot him near Precious Kids Family Childcare.
The shooting, in the 11200 block of Southeast 323rd Street of the Lea Hill Neighborhood, happened just after midnight Tuesday.
“We do believe this was a targeted attack,” Auburn Police Spokesperson Kolby Crossley said. “We also believe that there was more than one shooter.”
Crossley said they received multiple 911 calls about gunshots being fired in the neighborhood.
First responders quickly arrived and found a man who had been shot. They rushed him to Harborview Medical Center, but said he later died from his injuries.
Previous Auburn shooting
Tuesday’s shooting comes less than a week after another shooting about a mile away at the entrance of a mobile home park on Southeast 316th Street. Police said on May 21, a suspect rode up to the scene on a dirt bike and shot a 17-year-old boy. Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and no arrests have been made so far.
Police added that they don’t know what led up to the latest shooting, and are continuing to track down leads and suspects.
“We’re working hard to determine what happened here, and we believe there isn’t a threat to the community,” Crossley said. “All I can say is our detectives are working around the clock to hold those responsible accountable.”
Police have not identified a suspect and urge anyone with information about the incident to call the Auburn Police Department Tip Line at 253-288-7403.
