A driver in Thurston County took off and drove more than 100 miles per hour after a deputy attempted to pull him over for expired car tabs last weekend.
The car tabs were dated 2022.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office released dashcam footage of the car sliding off the road into a tree in a neighborhood near Evergreen State College.
Suspect escapes on foot, tries to hide
The man then attempted to elude police on foot. A K9 unit was called to the scene to help search for the suspect. Igo, the K9, and his handler found the suspect hiding under a deck.
“Despite numerous K9 warnings to crawl out, the suspect refused and instead chose to ignore our commands and dig through his pockets and waistband,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office stated in a post on social media. “K9 Igo was deployed and extracted the suspect out from under the deck, at which point he was placed under arrest.”
Deputies searched the suspect鈥檚 car and found a loaded .357 magnum. He also had an active warrant for inappropriate communications with a minor and is a three-time convicted felon, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
“The suspect was treated for minor injuries from the dog bite and booked into TCSO jail for attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a firearm, and hit and run,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office stated.
