Lincoln High School shooting: 16-year-old suspect arrested, firearm recovered

A juvenile was shot outside Lincoln High School in Tacoma. There was also a four-car crash involving an officer responding to the scene.
The incident occurred around 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, just before school let out, the Tacoma Police Department (TPD) told ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Newsradio.

TPD released a , noting they received a call that shots were fired, and then another call that a juvenile who was shot had shown up at their business near the shooting.
TPD officers arrived on the scene and located a 16-year-old male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to TPD.
The Tacoma Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As part of the TPD investigation, they identified the location of the shooting, gathered interviews from witnesses, and obtained surveillance video of the area, according to TPD.
Suspect in the Lincoln High School shooting
The investigation revealed probable cause for a 16-year-old suspect, who was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Facility, TPD stated.
The suspect is facing charges for Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree, and Possession of Dangerous Weapons on School Facilities, according to TPD.
TPD noted that there are no additional suspects and the firearm used in the shooting has been recovered.
4-car crash as officer responds to shooting by Lincoln High School
An officer en route to the school was involved in a crash with two other cars and a school bus that did not have any students in it, TPD stated. The officer is fine, and one other driver reported minor injuries.
The school was placed on a modified lockdown, but no other students were involved. TPD said it could not confirm if the juvenile shot was a student at the school.
