A large flaming motorhome in Seattle’s Mt. Baker Tunnel has been extinguished and removed from I-90. Hour-long backups remain for drivers as crews begin the cleanup process.
The fire started when a car and a motorhome crashed, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said there were no injuries.
“Thankfully, no injuries, but in that area, obviously, it’s going to cause a mess,” said WSP Trooper John Dattilo. “So right now, one of the Department of Transportation tow trucks pulled the RV out of the tunnel, and they’re just doing an inspection, which is protocol.”

Footage from cameras inside the tunnel shows massive flames and thick smoke filling the overhead space. Even though most of the wreckage has been cleared, it will take some time for commute times to recover.
“The Department of Transportation towed the RV out of the tunnel, and now it’s just kind of clean-up. So I don’t have a time frame, but they’ll need to keep it closed for the inspection,” said Dattilo
