A 17-year-old girl is accused of crashing a pickup truck into a Pierce County home this week.
Witnesses to the crash late Monday night near 111th and Park Avenue South in Parkland said the girl appeared to be highly intoxicated and kept trying to restart the truck, seemingly attempting to flee, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Carly Cappetto.
“This young woman is very lucky no one died in this situation,” Cappetto said in a . “The homeowners had been in the back portion of the home at the time of the collision. If they had been in their living room, this could have been very different.”
The girl was arrested and processed for DUI.
“Parents, please have these important conversations with your teens about the dangers of drinking and driving,” the post said. “This time of year, we too often see juvenile collisions involving alcohol end in serious injuries and even death.”
