Police are searching for one or more suspects after a man was fatally stabbed in Seattle’s University District early Sunday morning.
Around 4:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a man lying on the ground on The Ave, on University Way between N.E. 47th and N.E. 50th Streets.
When they arrived, they found a man on the sidewalk who had suffered life-threatening injuries.
Medics from the Seattle Fire Department made it to the scene and gave the man emergency medical treatment.
They took the injured man to Harborview Medical Center by ambulance.
Doctors at Harborview’s Emergency Room attempted life-saving efforts.
But it was too late, and they pronounced him deceased at the hospital.
Police are trying to determine exactly what led to the stabbing.
Officers cordoned off the area of the attack to gather potential evidence.
The Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Unit arrived and began processing the scene.
Officials transferred custody of the man’s body to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities there will determine the official cause and manner of death.
Meantime, police want to talk to any witnesses or others involved in the homicide.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Seattle Police Department’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
