WSP: Woman killed by alleged drunk driver on sidewalk in Parkland

An alleged drunk driver killed a pedestrian after veering off the road on State Route 7 (SR 7) Friday night, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) confirmed.
The accident occurred in Parkland when the driver was heading north on SR 7 near 143rd Street S. just after 6:30 p.m. Friday. The victim, a 40-year-old woman from Ocean Shores, was hit while walking on the sidewalk.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 39-year-old woman, also hit a light pole. She is facing a DUI vehicular homicide charge.
Multiple northbound lanes along SR 7 were blocked for hours Friday night while crews investigated and cleaned up the scene.
