The from early on in the pandemic have led to a flurry of questions regarding the origins of COVID-19 virus. Those are also questions that Washington Rep. Dan Newhouse believes should be the final straw for Fauci’s role as a national leader in public health.

Marshawn Lynch sits down with Dr. Anthony Fauci for candid one-on-one

In one January 2020 email to Fauci from infectious disease expert Kristian Andersen, Andersen had noted that “some of the features” of the virus “look engineered,” implying that there was a possibility that it could have been developed in a Wuhan lab.

Despite that, Fauci — and much of the medical community — publicly theorized that the so-called “lab leak” theory was unlikely, and that the virus had instead began its spread in nature. “I frankly don’t know what to believe anymore coming from Dr. Fauci,” he told KTTH’s Jason Rantz Show.

At this point, the exact origins of COVID-19 , with Newhouse calling for further investigation into what role China may have played.

Dr. Fauci offers WA praise but warns against complacency

And while Fauci has long been a target , for Newhouse, his early-2020 emails bring troubling revelations to light for the American public.

“I think his time has come, and that we have lost confidence because of all of the things that have been uncovered over the last few weeks,” he noted.

Fauci has served as director for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, having led U.S. efforts against the HIV epidemic, SARS, Swine flu, Ebola, and more.
