At the South Hill Mall in Puyallup, there was a rather bizarre and somewhat brazen .

Mall goers thought they had heard gunshots when they were shopping at Macy’s in the shoe department. Thankfully, it was not gunshots.

The assistant manager of customer service from the mall spoke with ³ÉÈËXÕ¾ Radio and said he heard it was a fire, since there was a lot of smoke. The store was evacuated, and he says they then found out it was fireworks set off inside the store.

So it went from gunshots to concern over a fire, to then it was fireworks.

When police arrived, they saw some people running away from the smoke-filled store. In the investigation, police confirmed that it was one person setting off the fireworks to create a diversion so other people could stage a robbery.

Firework evidence was recovered from the scene. There is not yet a suspect in custody.

We’ve been seeing more and more of the stories of the brazen burglar attempts and actual burglaries where people will just go into a store — sometimes you don’t even need a diversion.

Due to a severe staffing shortage among police across the entire region, they often get away with it because they’re able to take what they can and load it into a car and drive away before police gets there.

At the end of the day, these people in Puyallup got away with it because they feel like they can and they know that even if they were to get caught, there won’t be consequences. It’s not so much that the county doesn’t care even or the people don’t care. It’s that that’s what Democrat policies on policing and the criminal justice system have caused people to believe, that they will not suffer any consequences.

We’ve seen over and over again example after example of folks getting away with pretty much anything. They’re going to continue to do it unless we can severely course correct and start throwing people in jail when they pull stuff like this.

This wasn’t just some simple grab of shoes. If you put out fireworks in a small building, in an enclosed indoor space, that’s dangerous. Someone could have gotten hurt.
