2 Bellevue businesses on notice for complaints of prostitution

Ongoing prostitution forced the Bellevue Police Department to put two businesses on notice.

Sunnyday Spa in Factoria and Jolee Spa in downtown Bellevue were both allegedly being used for prostitution, according to police.

The businesses were declared “chronic nuisances.”

The activities reported included several prostitution-related offenses and an assault, according to police.

“These businesses were put on notice that prostitution activities and human trafficking in any form will not be tolerated in Bellevue,” Police Chief Steve Mylett said. “The men and women of the Bellevue Police Department are dedicated to holding property owners responsible for these activities.”

The notice for Sunnyday Spa cites two cases of prostitution between February and March, both involved a masseuse offering an undercover officer sexual favors, the .

There were three incidents involving alleged prostitution between January and March at Jolee Spa, according to the Reporter. The incidents also involved sexual favors offered to undercover police. The registered owner is identified in two of the cases as being the one to make the offer, according to the Reporter.

A business can be considered a “chronic nuisance” if there are reports of at least three nuisance activities at the property within a 60-day period, or seven or more within a 12-month period. Both Bellevue businesses received three reports within 60 days, according to police.

The property owners have 15 days to respond to the notices, otherwise they face fines of up to $500 per day.
