Alan White, the longest-tenured member of Yes and Seattle-area resident, dies at 72

Famed musician and Seattle resident Alan White has died at age 72.
His family says he passed away at his Seattle-area home Thursday after a brief illness.
Alan White, our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, passed away at the age of 72 at his Seattle-area home on May 26, 2022, after a brief illness.

White had been the drummer for the group “Yes” since 1972 and had a longtime collaboration with John Lennon, including performances on Lennon鈥檚 1970 single “Instant Karma!” the 1971 LP Imagine, and George Harrison鈥檚 1970 triple album All Things Must Pass.
“Throughout his life and six-decade career, Alan was many things to many people: a certified rock star to fans around the world; bandmate to a select few, and gentleman and friend to all who met him,” White鈥檚 family wrote on social media.
