Man allegedly threw ‘unidentified fluid’ on girlfriend, lit her on fire and fled

A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after she was set on fire in Seattle on Sunday night, according to police.
The woman’s boyfriend was waiting for her at home in the 7400 block of Rainer Avenue South. The two argued outside their apartment building, according to the Seattle Police Department
The suspect grabbed the victim, began shouting at her, and then threw an unidentified fluid on her. The suspect then allegedly set his girlfriend on fire, according to police.
The woman’s boyfriend fled as she ran to a courtyard and rolled on the ground to extinguish flames on her chest, face and arms, reports say. Seattle police are searching for him.
The woman suffered burns over 20 to 30 percent of her body. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
Law enforcement responded at approximately 9 p.m.
Detectives have been unable to speak with the woman because of her injuries.
Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 60s, 5 feet 7 inches and 145 pounds with a skinny build.
