A Gig Harbor man who crashed and rolled his speeding car while driving his niece and nephew home gets six-and-a-half years in prison for killing the nine year old boy.
Pierce Counthy Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said Jayce Randall ignored the pleas of the frightened children last March on Highway 16.
“He was scaring the children because he was driving too fast and one of them was yelling at him to slow down and he wouldn’t and he was drunk and he crashed.” The accident at the Purdy exit ramp ejected Randall and Donovan Best. The boy was thrown 50 feet past the vehicle and landed on the pavement. He died the next day.
Randall, 27, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide. He was sentenced Fri. Lindquist said Randall admitted using marijuana and drinking before driving his niece and nephew home from a family barbecue.
