Seattle police investigators believe a 58-year-old woman was stabbed in her sleep by her own daughter, at a Yesler Terrace apartment early Sunday morning.
Investigators report the victim was able to make it to a neighbor’s front door just before 1:00 a.m.
The neighbor immediately called 911.
The attack took place in an apartment on E. Fir St., near 11th Ave.
Police say the woman had suffered stab wounds to the neck, face, arm, and leg.
Officers found her on the third floor of the building and began giving her first aid until Seattle Fire medics arrived and took over lifesaving efforts.
An ambulance transported her to Harborview Medical Center, where she is reported to be in serious condition.
Police say they later determined the victim was awakened by an unprovoked attack inside her apartment.
They say the suspect is the woman’s 33-year-old daughter, and they consider the attack an incident of domestic violence.
It’s believed the woman was also stabbed in the apartment’s hallway with a butcher knife.
Detectives are still looking for the daughter.
Officers say she left the scene before they arrived.
Police launched a search of the neighborhood with help from personnel who work at its Real Time Crime Center.
Domestic Violence Unit detectives are also following up to learn more about a possible motive, to try to determine what led to the assault.
