The mall reopened on Monday.
Samantha Gonzalez, of Mount Vernon, wants mall employees to know the community is behind them.
鈥淚 have an extra heart for Macy鈥檚 because I worked there throughout my last pregnancy,鈥 Gonzalez said. 鈥淪o I know a lot of the employees and it had to be so scary to be there when it happened. And I want them to know the community still supports them, we鈥檙e still going to come, we鈥檙e still going to be there for them.鈥
Gonzalez was one of about 200 people to walk through the mall Wednesday posting signs of encouragement for the store’s employees.
The man suspected of killing the five people was identified as Arcan Cetin, 20, of Oak Harbor. Cetin, who was arrested Sept. 24, was charged with five counts of first-degree premeditated murder.
