Kirkland police have arrested a 40-year-old Everett man they believe broke into nearly two-dozen businesses across four counties in the last four months.
Police said their investigation started in April, after several businesses in the Houghton neighborhood were burglarized.
Someone had smashed windows to get into buildings and then used power tools to open safes and tills.
Similar break-ins to those in Kirkland reported across counties
Over the next few months, similar break-ins happened not only in Kirkland but in cities spanning King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Thurston Counties.
Detectives said they identified a vehicle that appeared to be linked to the crimes. From there, they tracked down the suspect, who was taken into custody at his home on July 23.
The man is facing 20 felony charges for 12 burglaries in King County, according to a news release from the Kirkland Police Department. He was released on $150,000 bond, but will likely be charged for crimes in other counties, as well.
