Fatal drive-by shooting in Kent leaves man bleeding from his head

The Kent Police Department (KPD) is investigating a fatal shooting in Kent’s East Hill neighborhood that left one man bleeding from the head in his car Monday.
A stated that they received the report around 2:30 p.m. Multiple KPD Officers, firefighters, and medics were dispatched to the area of Southeast 240th Street and 108th Avenue Southeast.

Upon KPD’s arrival, witnesses told officers that the injured male crashed his car into other vehicles, remained inside his vehicle, and was believed to be shot. The man was locked inside his car and had to be extricated by KPD, the release stated.
鈥淭hey got into an argument and they started shooting,鈥 one witness told .
“One guy is going this way, the black Jeep, so he shoots this guy, and he’s running,” another witness stated.
After the man was freed from the locked car, CPR and other life-saving measures were initiated due to the severity of his injuries, but the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. A 28-year-old Kent resident suspected to be the shooter remained at the scene and surrendered his firearm to KPD Officers, cooperating with the investigation.
鈥淭his whole strip, 240th鈥攖here鈥檚 something going on with the crime here,” Yvette Mercer, a Kent resident, told KING 5. “There鈥檚 a lot of drug activity, a lot of break-ins, theft. It鈥檚 just weird, it鈥檚 just this pocket in Kent.”
No details have been provided for the shooter’s motive. No other bystanders were injured during the altercation.
Kent detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene, and stated that the investigation is ongoing while detectives work to determine the full sequence of events.
