Car plunges into water after fatal stabbing on Ketron Island, suspect missing

The Pierce County Sheriff鈥檚 Office is searching for a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death Sunday night.
On June 22, deputies responded to a home on Ketron Island鈥攁n island with less than 20 residents, according to 鈥攁t approximately 9:10 p.m. regarding a call about a stabbing.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman at the home with several stab wounds. Medics attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but she was pronounced dead at the home.
Car crashes into the water
While investigating the home, neighbors told deputies at the crime scene that a vehicle was currently floating in the water after a loud crash was heard at the ferry dock off of Morris Boulevard.
“It is believed the male suspect drove his vehicle off the ferry dock,” Pierce County Deputy Carly Cappetto reported. “The vehicle has not been located, and it is unknown if the suspect is in the vehicle or not.”
Dive and marine units are actively searching for the vehicle in the water.
Child Protective Services took custody of a 1-year-old whom the victim and the alleged suspect shared.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and our deputies and Dive and Marine Services will be working the scene for several hours,” Cappetto added.
