Seattle man arrested after fatal hit-and-run in Kent

Officers arrested a driver suspected of a hit-and-run that killed a 39-year-old man early Thursday morning in Kent, according to the .
Officers were sent to the 24000 block of Pacific Highway South after hearing about a pedestrian being hit by a car just before 2:30 a.m.
Police said the man was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when a silver SUV hit him. Emergency crews, including Kent Police, Fire, and medical first responders, immediately began trying to save his life, but the man died at the scene.
Witnesses told officers the driver, 32, immediately took off after the crash. Shortly thereafter, Des Moines Police found a damaged silver SUV near the 26000 block of 20th Avenue South. Four people were in the SUV, which had 鈥渟ubstantial front-end damage,鈥 according to the Kent Police Department.聽
The three passengers were 30, 35, and 26 years old, and all residents of Federal Way. They all confirmed with officers that the 32-year-old driver from Seattle was driving during the fatal hit-and-run.
The driver was taken into custody and booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide. Investigators are still working to determine whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
